Different Ways To Make Money As an Influencer

By Charlotte Stavrou - SevenSix Agency’s Founder & CEO

In today's ever-evolving influencer landscape, creators have more opportunities than ever to turn their platforms into profit. Whether through affiliate marketing, content creation, or even consulting, influencers are no longer limited to sponsored posts alone. This blog looks at seven income streams that content creators can tap into, from the ever-popular affiliate links and YouTube AdSense to the rising demand for user-generated content (UGC) and digital products. Whether you're just starting out or looking to diversify your revenue streams, these avenues provide practical ways to maximise your earning potential while staying true to your personal brand.

Affiliate Links

You don't need a massive following for affiliate marketing to work; your audience just needs to be engaged and receptive to the products you're promoting. Many brands have their own affiliate programmes such as Amazon, but there are also dedicated programmes such as LTK which allow you to link products from multiple stores.

YouTube

YouTube AdSense is a key tool for content creators to earn money from their videos on YouTube. The revenue generated from these ads is split between the creator and YouTube, with creators typically receiving 55% of the earnings. There is also the YouTube Partner Program, which grants YouTubers access to more income streams, such as YouTube Premium subscription fees, Super Chat, channel memberships, and the merchandise shelf.

UGC Content

This has now developed into its own niche within the influencer industry, where creators receive payment in exchange for full rights to the content, allowing brands to redistribute the content. Unlike typical influencer content, UGC creators do not share these videos on their own social channels; instead, they hand over the content exclusively for the brand's use on its marketing outlets.

Consultancy

Seasoned influencers often possess a wealth of knowledge and experience, which is increasingly recognised by brands seeking their consultation. More creators are being approached to contribute to product development stages and to participate in internal panel discussions, enhancing brands' communication strategies. The SevenSix Agency talent, for example, has been involved in consulting roles for major brands, with one even invited to speak at Meta's head office in Paris.

Panel Talk

Another avenue is sitting on panel talks. Numerous events, like the annual bCreator™ show are created to share creators’ knowledge with the attendees. And more and more we’re seeing influencer marketing industry events including creator voices in their lineups.

Fashion Retail

In recent years, there has been a rise of the rented wardrobe. Rental platforms like By Rotation have emerged, making it much easier to choose outfits for special events. If you have a closet full of designer pieces, considering renting them out - it's an excellent way to earn an extra income, especially for any gifted product hanging in my wardrobe.
